Fun with Flour

This morning I was in the ladies room for a minute and when I came back out I found Eliza with a handful of flour running around the room. She had found my open bag of flour and thought it would make a great snack. This is nothing however, to the event a couple of weeks ago at choir practice. Eliza and our choir directors two year old daughter found and unloaded almost the entire 25 lb bucket of flour and was eating as much of it as they could when they were discovered. It did provide some great laughs.

Place Mat Purses

My sister-in-law taught me how to make these. They are really cute and really easy to make. They also are the perfect size for a set of scriptures and would make a great, inexpensive gift.

4 Easy steps:

1-Fold place mat in half (right sides together) and sew a 1/2 in seam up each side. Iron seam allowance open.

2-Open purse and match the side seam with the bottom crease so the corners make a triangle. Sew corners across the triangle to make the base of the purse. (I usually sew this about 1 1/2 in but you can make it as wide or narrow as you want.)

3-Attach handles.

4-Decorate with beads, ribbon, embroidery, etc.

Mashed Potatoes

This is Liesel eating her mashed potatoes at dinner the other day. She couldn't shovel them into her mouth fast enough. When we started her on Gerber solids, all she would eat were the fruits and almost all of them had bananas in them. Now she won't touch bananas and wants the 'good stuff.' For being so small, she sure can eat a lot.

Dress Up

Eliza has caught the vision of dress up. I love this picture of her in this hat. We were at the Egbert's for craft group and the kids were all playing dress up and this is what she put on. Ever since then I will find her in her room pulling down dresses from the closet and putting them on. It is a little frustrating that she can't get them all the way on by herself. But I think she does have fun.

Easter Dresses

I love to sew and I love it even more when what I am sewing turns out so cute. These are the Easter dresses I made for my girls. I unpicked almost all of Eliza's at one point. I am glad I am learning the ropes of sewing before I have to make a prom dress. Every time I sit down at a sewing machine I thank my mom for teaching me how to sew. She is one of the best seamstresses I know and I am grateful for all she taught me. I hope my girls will want to sew too. But now I better go...I have a skirt to finish and a place mat purse to make!

This is Rachel. My hero. She has five kids with one on the way and is tougher than nails. I love Rachel because she is fun, she is spontaneous, she loves to scrapbook, she's taking piano lessons, she sings in the choir, she hosts craft get-togethers, she's fun to chat with (on the phone and in person), she loves chocolate, she is creative, she takes great pictures, she is a blogger, she is outgoing, she is friendly, she doesn't mind my energetic girls in her house, she is funny, she is thoughtful, she loves self-improvement books, she cries, she laughs, she makes great rolls, she is encouraging, she is honest, she is unselfish, she is thoughtful and she is one of my very best friends.
