Out the window

I don't know why, but the girls love to look out our front window. They will stand there just watching the cars go by or spotting a dog on an afternoon walk or the neighbor kids riding their bikes up and down the street.

I love this time too. It means I get a few minutes to do the dishes or start dinner or sit and relax without having to hold someone.

Usually it isn't long before one of them pushes the other out of the way or wrestles the other to the ground. It usually ends in tears.

But the few minutes of peace that it brings is a little taste of heaven.

Happy Independence Day!

Our day was fantastic. It started of with watering the garden and quickly turned into a water fight between Eliza and the hose. She was drenched from head to toe by the end but loved every minute of it.

We went swimming after Liesel's nap and that was a blast. Liesel is quite the swimmer and probably would have loved to stay another hour. Eliza did actually get in the water this time which was a huge improvement from our last visit. She is starting to see the fun it can be.

Later in the day we went to the Egbert's for a BBQ. The food was great. Liesel probably ate more than I did and Eliza carried her root beer glass around the whole time. She finally figure out if she would stand at the jug long enough, someone would come fill up her glass again.

The evening ended with sparklers! The kids loved them so much that we couldn't light them fast enough. They didn't even care that it was still light out.

It was a great day. Happy Birthday America!

Summer's Tasty Treat

There is nothing better than a Popsicle on a hot summer afternoon.

Eliza struggled to figure out how to get the Popsicle to stay up in the plastic.

Liesel was too impatient for that. She just dumped it out and held it in her hands.

Green Thumb

My garden is a great release for me. After I put Liesel down for her morning nap, Eliza and I head for the backyard. It is a great way for Eliza to release some of her energy and it gives me some time to just enjoy the plants and not have to think about anything.

My peas are blossoming and starting to form little pods. That is really fun. The corn looks better than last year. I planted it too close together last year and it was kind of skimpy. I hoping for the best with this crop.

Here is one of my two lettuce plants. They both get stepped on every other time we are out in the yard. But they are troopers and hopefully will be a great addition to our dinner plate soon. The beans are also looking better than last year. They haven't started blossoming yet but they are close.

My new addition to my garden this year is the zucchini plant. A late hale storm just about did both it and the strawberries in but they are both rallying quite well. We didn't get many strawberries this round but we are hoping for a better crop in late July.

Feeling Better

Liesel has been really sick this last week. She had a fever for three days and was pretty uncomfortable. So we finally took her to the doctor to discover two ear infections and a really sore throat. Poor Girl. But she is on antibiotics now and we think she is on the mend. She has contracted the weird rash that Eliza had earlier this week. Red spots all over their body and especially on their cheeks. I hope it isn' t something I should be concerned about. Hopefully everyone will be feeling better soon.

Baby #3

That is right. Baby #3 is on the way. We are due January 15th. As I watch Eliza and Liesel growing up, it seems really exciting to add another member to our little family, with his or her own personality and character traits. It is such a gift from our loving Heavenly Father to be a part of something this good. We can't wait to meet you baby #3!
